TR25 Fan Spotlight: Around the World with World of Tomb Raider

Some fans have been celebrating Tomb Raider and Lara Crofts legacy with fan art, videos, cosplays, screenshots, or creative writing - but did you know some celebrate by traveling with Lara around the world? Let us explain!

Throughout the past several years, Bartosz and Robert - the two webmasters of Official Polish Fansite - “World of Tomb Raider” have visited many places inspired by Lara's itinerary in the games. They didn't travel alone, though. They always took a beloved action figure of Lara Croft along for the ride, Classic Lara being their favorite.

They traveled to Egypt, Japan, Venice, Greece, London, Derby and even one of Nathan McCree's concerts for the Tomb Raider Suite. Their Lara Croft action figure and her travels became famous in Tomb Raider community when it was kissed by Shelley Blond too, the very first voice of Lara Croft.

Since May is dedicated to Tomb Raider IV, we saw it fitting to showcase what places Bartosz, Robert and smol action Lara saw in Egypt. From here, we turn you over to your World of Tomb Raider webmaster and tour guide, Bartosz, who will share pictures and tales of their adventures. They also have a video about their visit to Egypt, which was during November 19th 2019 - the 20th anniversary of Tomb Raider IV.

Our adventure started in Valley of the Kings, where we found, like Lara before, KV5 (you can see a sign on the photo). In reality it’s not a desert plain, but a tomb, so we couldn’t use a jeep there ;)

In The Times Exclusive Level Lara returned to Valley of the Kings and tried to find new secret tunnels in the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Temple of Karnak is one of the most important place in Egypt! We felt like we were inside Tomb Raider IV!

Sacred Lake looks a little bit different than in TR4, but it’s still a beautiful, mystic place.

The same as Lara we travelled from Karnak to Alexandria by a train. Fortunately our version of Desert Railroad was quite calm – without any ninja warriors ;)

Today on the Pharos Peninsula there is the Citadel. It’s quite similar to ruins from the level Coastal Ruins isn’t it?

Welcome to Cairo. During our trip inside the bus we saw the infamous City of the Dead. It’s a very big necropolis.

Cairo Citadel is really enormous. We found Citadel Gate but didn’t find Jean Yves who was kidnapped by Werner Von Croy ;)

Inside the Egyptian Museum in Cairo we found a game of Senet. It’s the same game Lara had played with Semerkhet in Karnak!

Sphinx Complex is very beautiful but not so big as you could imagine. Unfortunately we couldn’t reach the site Underneath the Sphinx.

Giza Plateau – if Lara wasn’t the Tomb Raider, she could sell postcards, couldn’t she? :)

Bartosz needs to lend his Amulet of Horus to Lara, so she could trap Seth inside the Great Pyramid!

Menkaure's Pyramid is the smallest pyramid on the Giza Plateau, but still very impressive.

So finally it’s the time to go Inside the Great Pyramid! Bartosz doesn’t like tight corridors but he is happy Lara is with him!

Robert did it! After 20 years he helped Lara to trap Seth for the second time!

In 1999 Lara lost the Amulet of Horus inside the Great Pyramid. Luckily 20 years later she managed to get it back :)

Venice – we searched with Lara Bartoli’s Hideout. When Lara is in Venice, she has to use a speedboat ;)

This is an identical shot as we can see in the first movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie :) We found the place where a cameraman stood!

When you are in Greece you have to visit The Meteora! Inside one of the monasteries there is Tomb of Tihocan.

In late 2016, when we celebrated 20th anniversary of the franchise, we visited the place where Lara Croft was born – the old headquarter of Core Design in Derby, England.

On 18th December 2016 we saw The Tomb Raider Suite, the amazing concert of Nathan McCree. Of course Lara was there with us too!

Absolutely amazing moment - Shelley Blond, the very first voice of Lara Croft, kissed our figure. From this moment we haven’t cleaned it ;)

St Paul's Cathedral is the iconic monument in London, quite close to Thames Wharf.

Temple station is quite similar to Aldwych, isn’t it? Whenever Lara gets inside the tube, she is chased by a train ;)

In TR3 Lara visited Natural History Museum, but it was Core Design mistake, because there is no Egyptian relics there. In fact she visited the British Museum.

In Tokyo we found the very high skyscraper so we could take similar picture as Tomb Raider Legend render :)

Robert really enjoyed Japan! It was his biggest dream to go there and meet the Japanese culture.

Is it a castle from Yamatai Island? No, but it’s very similar isn’t it? :) It’s the castle in Matsumoto.
